Five Excellent Dog-Friendly Getaways in New York

Getaway with your Furbaby!

Firelight Camps (Finger Lakes)

Firelight Camps offer cozy and quaint accommodations for individuals and their pets seeking a natural environment. Every morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast made with local ingredients and freshly brewed coffee. You are welcome to play cornhole, participate in group campfires, use the phone charging station, and more. Additionally, hiking trails near Upper Buttermilk Falls are just a stone’s (or stick’s) throw away. For a little $30 more each night, you may bring your dog (only in non-electric tents). The majority of the ten participating wineries on the neighboring Cayuga Lake Wine Trail are dog-friendly, with many even hiding treats behind their counters, which is sure to delight dog owners.

Lake George RV Park (Adirondacks)

With a water park, Wi-Fi, cable TV, tennis and basketball courts, a cafe, a pond with paddle boats, and a trolley shuttle service, the Lake George RV Park is one of the few luxury RV parks. The best part is that pets are welcome. “Charlie’s Bark Park,” a two-acre off-leash dog park with both large and little dog spaces, allows dogs to run about. There are walking routes, a turf play area, a dog spray fountain, a pet treat selling area, and an inside dog wash station. Choose to bring up to two pets to a pet-friendly rental property or up to six pets to any campground! You and your dog may take in breathtaking views of Lake George on a one-hour history tour, which is just eight minutes’ drive away.

Eastwind Hotel & Bar (Catskills)

While the main Scandinavian-style lodge at this Catskills resort is all about warmth, the A-frames and other small cabins offer the ideal taste of glamping with breathtaking views of Windham Mountain Club and the countryside. You can enjoy the surrounding trails and beauty with your pet by paying an additional $50 per night for most accommodations and cabins. It’s an ideal spot for exploring the Catskills and going on ski trips in Windham!

Inn at Lake Joseph (Catskills)

The focus of this Catskills getaway is the dogs (sorry, no cats permitted). Take pleasure in a trip to the mountains, where dogs of all sizes are permitted to explore the 2,000-acre forest preserve’s pathways and leap into the stunning Lake Joseph. People will take pleasure in the daily picnic meal and country-style breakfast. Along with your furry friend and other visitors, you may unwind by the fire pit. Eleven of the lodging options—including the quaint four-bedroom cottage—allow dogs for an extra $25 per night.

The Getaway at Emerald Glen Farm (Central New York)

Not only is The Getaway at Emerald Glen Farm pet-friendly, but it is entirely focused on dogs! For the duration of your visit, dogs are allowed to roam about on this 120-acre picturesque paradise. Visitors can mingle and enjoy s’mores with the other humans and dogs around the campfire as the day comes to a conclusion. After a day spent exploring the outdoors with your dog (up to 6 dogs are permitted, depending on housing), you can wash your dog at one of the several dog wash stations scattered throughout the campgrounds. Depending on your preferences and financial situation, pick from a fully furnished house, opulent RVs, cabins, cottages, glamping, and chic tiny homes. This is the summer camp your dog would choose if it could create its own.
